The All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s
Institute of Information Technology, (Formerly Women’s College of Engineering)
was established in August 1999. This college is a self financing Institution
and affiliated to the University of Pune. It is approved by the AICTE, New
Delhi and the Director of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra.
The college has well qualified dedicated staff with good infrastructural
facilities in the form of well equipped laboratories in all the branches,
namely Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation,
Electronics and Telecommunications, Information Technology, Library and
Gymkhana Facilities, center for training and placement.
The
fourth-generation wireless technology provides a wide variety of services
including the option to download, view, and upload
high-definition (HD) videos, 4G is known as "beyond 3G," since it
provides a comprehensive and secure Internet Protocol (IP) solution. Users have
access to high-quality streaming video and "anytime, anywhere" voice
and data at a much higher speed than previous generations. The "anytime,
anywhere" solution of 4G technology is also referred to as
"MAGIC," which is an abbreviation for ‘Mobile multimedia, Anytime, anywhere,
Global mobility support, Integrated wireless solution, and Customized personal
services’.
The
fourth-generation will inter-operate with third generation systems and
broadband broadcasting systems; It also intends to integrate fixed wireless
access (FWA), wireless local area network (WLAN), wireless local loop (WLL) and
personal area network (PAN), to provide fully IP-based wireless internet. When
fully implemented, this technology could help create additional markets and
opportunities for new and established telecommunication enterprises.
Commercialization of 4G technology is also
important to fuel future research. The aim of this symposium is to
identify the paths between fundamental research and potential wireless
technology applications. This
Symposium will provide a forum for academicians, researchers, practitioners
and students working in the areas of wireless technology & multimedia to
discuss new developments, concepts and practices and to identify future
research needs so that 4G technology researches can be brought closer to its
immense potential.
